Firearm Transfers

Pistol, shotgun and rifle transfers are $40 per firearm plus the $9 NYS fee.

All firearms shipped to NY must be shipped from another FFL and have a locking device in the box. All firearms with a detachable magazine must be transferred with a 10 round or less magazine. You cannot leave with no magazine. If you send a firearm transfer to us with no magazine, you are responsible to provide a 10 round or less magazine when picking up your firearm.

details or contact us if you have any questions.

New York has recently enacted several new rules about what can be sent
here and what can’t, please be certain that you are sending transferable
firearms. Any semi-automatic rifle now requires a permit in New York State.

Importantly, most ARs and AKs are not NY compliant. Newly in effect, Shockwaves,
tac-14’s, the Henry Axe and “others” are not NY compliant. If you have a
question about a gun’s legality here in New York, please check with us
first, prior to shipping. If you are active law enforcement you are exempt from these rules and the NY Safe Act.

If you send a transfer that is not NY compliant, you are still responsible for transfer fees and shipping costs to send it back.

Transfers are to be picked up within 2 weeks of delivery. All transfers are available for pick up the day after they are delivered. Transfers will not be available for pick up the same day it is delivered. If you do not pick up your transfer within 2 weeks, you will be charged a storage fee of $10 a month (unless discussed with us otherwise) in addition to the $40 transfer fee. 

Transfers that aren’t picked up within 90 days are considered abandoned and become property of Long Island Ammo, unless we have discussed with you otherwise.

Ammo Transfers

$15 for the first two shipping boxes, and then $10 per box after that. All ammo transfers are subject to the $2.50 NYS fee.

Transfers are expected to be picked up within 2 weeks of delivery. If you do not pick up your transfer within 2 weeks, you will be charged a storage fee of $10 a month (unless discussed with us otherwise) in addition to the transfer fee.

Transfers that aren’t picked up within 90 days are considered abandoned and become property of Long Island Ammo, unless we have discussed with you otherwise.

Face To Face Transfers

Face to face transfers are $40 per firearm plus the $9 NYS fee.

Private sales for pistols, rifles and shotguns require both parties present, the firearm(s) present and proper licenses and identification for each individual.

Transfers Out

Transfers out are $40 per firearm plus shipping fees

If you sell a firearm on GunBroker or would like to send a firearm to another state, you must go through an FFL dealer. We can only send firearms to another FFL dealer. All handguns must be shipped 2 Day shipping, long guns may be shipped ground. We ship all firearms via UPS and we will provide you with tracking numbers.

Please bring the FFL dealer’s contact information that you would like us to send your firearm to, as well as the name and contact info for the individual picking up the firearm.
